Great Loire Valley wine, Bourgueil, appellation d'origine contrôlée, "Les Maursaules" 2014, made from Cabernet Franc.
A wonderful expression of the potential of this terroir. Red and black fruits dominate the nose and mouth, and are complemented by subtle hints of sweet spice, smokiness and earthiness. Extremely well balanced, with round tannins and a lot of elegance.

Pierre, Rudolphe and Sophie are the latest generation in charge of running this winery, just outside the village of Benais. Organic farming has been practised here since the year 2000. Their great-grandfather purchased small plots of land in Benais just after the Phylloxera epidemic. Initially, he cultivated a various number of crops and gradually integrated plots of vineyards to the farm. This polyculture agriculture would resist until the 1970s when the farm became exclusively a winery. Knowledge of wine making was passed down throughout the generations and today cuvees are carefully created in a manner that brings out the best of the terroir of Bourgueil.
