In the late 80s, Jean-Hubert Verdaguer became head of domaine de Rancy and along with his wife Brigitte, started to transform the winery. He began by creating a number of Natural Sweet Rivesaltes wine (vin doux naturel). At the turn of the century he then decided, with the help of his daughter Delphine, to start producing dry reds and to stop selling his grapes to the local cooperative. 2011 marked the beginning of the future, as the first certified organic wines were produced. The certification was easily achieved thanks to already having stopped using chemicals on his vines 20 years earlier.
On a Mediterranean terroir comprising clay, chalk and schist, this domain produces concentrated wines from very low yields (20 hectolitres per hectare) and vines that, on average, are 50 years old.
